Setting the Scene
On Thursday, May 8, Nyah and I flew to Columbus, OH for our second photo shoot. To say we were excited is an understatement. Me, because I got to see some of my favorite people and Nyah, because she has become great friends with some of the girls and couldn’t wait to see them again.
Since it was Mother’s Day weekend and we were flying home on Saturday, May 10, we planned a 10-hour day with a 61-page shot list. There was a lot to accomplish in a short period of time, but going in, we knew the day was going to be about more than just capturing images. It was going to be about capturing individuality, fostering confidence, and, of course, having a lot of fun.
The day began with excitement as our amazing team transformed the studio… Lighting, music, custom backdrops, and racks filled with our current and new designs. Everyone was eager to bring our vision to life.
The Stars of the Show
Our models, four incredible tween girls, brought their unique energy to the set. From spontaneous dances to shared laughs, their authenticity came through in every shot. The best part for me was witnessing the genuine smiles, playful interactions, and the sheer joy of the girls feeling comfortable in their skin. It wasn't just about the clothes; it was about the stories they told and the confidence they inspired.
A Team Effort
Behind every successful shoot is a dedicated team who has spent weeks preparing for this day. I might be biased, but our team is the absolute best. Seven women all bringing their brilliant minds, creativity and energy together to make what could have felt like a long, daunting day, fly by with many laughs and true partnership. The shared passion for our mission—to empower tween girls—was evident in every detail. I couldn’t be more proud.
Reflecting on the Day
As the day wrapped up, we couldn't help but feel a sense of fulfillment. We had not only captured more amazing images than we had planned, but also created an environment where the girls felt seen, heard, and celebrated.
