We recently had the chance to chat with Becky Connelly, the mom and inventor behind Non Disclosure Apparel. Becky knows firsthand how uncomfortable and frustrating bras can be—she’s been there since she was 11, feeling self-conscious about her “boobies” showing through her t-shirts. After years of searching for a better solution, she created foam-free, wireless bralettes for girls and women using her patented concealing petal technology. In our conversation, Becky shared her journey, what inspired her to start Non Disclosure Apparel, and how she’s helping girls and women feel confident and comfortable every day.

1. Tell us a bit about yourself!
I'm a mom, an inventor, and someone who spent way too many years feeling uncomfortable in my own clothes. In undergrad, my friends nicknamed me MacGyver because I could fix (or jury-rig) things that weren't working in our dorm room. So, in the spirit of building things, I went on to study construction management and pursued a career in the industry.
That problem-solving mindset stuck with me: if something doesn't work the way it should, figure out how to make it better. When I couldn't find a comfortable bra that actually solved my problem, I decided to make it myself. It took years of trial and error, but that's how Non Disclosure Apparel was born—and how I became obsessed about making sure girls and women today have better options than I did.

2. What inspired you to start Non Disclosure Apparel?
A combination of frustration and courage. I'd been frustrated with uncomfortable bras since I was 11, but the turning point came when my kids were little. I went back to work in construction, but it didn't feel natural anymore. I worked with a life coach to help me figure out the next step, and when I shared my vision for a better bra—one without bulky foam—she gave me the courage to go for it.
I had zero training in lingerie design. I just knew the bra I wanted didn't exist. It took years to navigate a new industry and find manufacturers who understood my vision. Most just wanted me to use foam and be done with it, but that defeated the whole purpose. I kept searching until I found partners willing to try something different.

3. How did your personal experiences influence the creation of bralettes for women and training bras for tweens?
That feeling at age 11 stuck with me my whole life. I knew exactly how self-conscious young girls feel when their bodies start changing, and I didn't want them to go through what I did—wearing uncomfortable bras or feeling embarrassed.
I began by creating the adult bra I always wanted: foam-free, wireless, and genuinely comfortable. From there, introducing a training bra felt like a natural progression. Young girls don't need bulky foam padding. They need something simple and comfortable, that gives them coverage without making them feel different or awkward. Our training bras are designed to feel like wearing a soft cami—nothing scary or complicated about it.

4. What makes Non Disclosure Apparel different from other bra or intimate-wear brands?
Our bralettes are completely foam-free, which is huge for young girls. Most training bras either offer no coverage at all, or they're packed with thick foam padding—or removable inserts that get lost in the wash. Some moms look for "sewn-in padding" as a solution, but that still means bulky foam that girls don't need.
We developed thin, flexible concealing petals that are built right into the bralette—they provide coverage without any foam or bulk. It's comfortable, it works, and it doesn't change how girls look or feel.
We're also really intentional about how our products are made. Everything is produced in the USA by manufacturers who share our commitment to quality—the kind of quality we'd want for our own daughters.

5. What’s one tip for parents helping their daughters start wearing training bras?
Make it normal, not a big deal. It doesn't need to be this rite of passage, "you're becoming a woman" conversation. Talk about it the same way you'd talk about wearing comfortable shoes or a cozy sweater—it's just something that helps you feel comfortable.
Let her try it on at home when there's no pressure, and don't force it if she's not ready. The right training bra should feel so comfortable she almost forgets she's wearing it—honestly, many of our customers tell us they even sleep in theirs. If she's constantly adjusting or complaining, it's not the right fit or style.
A lot of our customers already wear our bras themselves, so getting one for their daughter is a no-brainer—they already trust what works.

6. What are you most excited about for Non Disclosure Apparel’s future?
Changing how the entire industry approaches coverage.
Right now, our bralettes prove the technology works—customers love them, moms trust them for their daughters, and the feedback has been incredible. But I'm not content with just running a DTC bralette company. I'm working to partner with other brands to bring concealing petal technology to activewear, swimwear, everyday bras—so women and girls can have nipple coverage without the bulk.
The goal is to make foam padding obsolete. Not just for my customers, but for everyone. Every girl and woman deserves comfortable options without compromise, no matter where they shop. That's the future I'm building.

7. How do you hope your products impact confidence and comfort for girls and women?
I want girls to feel comfortable in their own bodies without worrying about showing through their clothes. That worry can be so distracting—whether you're at school, playing sports, or just hanging out with friends. If our bralettes help girls feel confident and free to just be themselves, that's everything.
For women, I want them to know they don't have to choose between comfort and coverage anymore. You can have both. You can feel like yourself, in your own body, without compromise. That's what I wish I had at 11, and that's why this exists.

8. Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I want to address the price point. At $48, people will say, "I can buy a 5-pack at a box store for the same price." I get it—but here's the perspective: we'll spend $68 on trendy shorts she'll wear all summer, but hesitate on a bra she'll wear every day for years?
Our bralettes are handmade in small batches in the USA. My own daughter has worn the same size since she was 12. The bra is soft and stretchy, becoming more supple with wear, so it becomes their favorite. Parents write to us saying they've tried everything, and this is what finally helped their daughter feel confident.
Here's what makes ours different: The concealing petals are permanently built in—they don't shift, crease, or become misshapen. You don't have to fish them back through tiny openings after every wash. For those who've been searching for a solution, this is it.

Not every girl has the same build, so we offer options. If the Elli Bralette doesn't fit, we have the Gigi Bralette with more coverage. Or we can add our concealing petals to any bra or cami she already loves—you can find that service on our website under "Nipple Coverage for Your Bra." Foam-free coverage for anything she wants to wear.
Becky’s bralettes are all about comfort, coverage, and confidence. Made for girls and women, foam-free and wireless, they help you feel like yourself—no bulk, no fuss, just easy, everyday confidence.
