6 Ways Tweens Can Celebrate Earth Day.

April 22, 2025

Earth Day is the perfect excuse to do something good for the planet—and it doesn’t have to be complicated! Here are six easy ways you and your tween can make an impact together:

1. Donate Clothes
Have clothes that don’t fit anymore? Instead of tossing them, donate them to a local charity or thrift store this Earth Day. You’re reducing waste and helping others in need by giving your gently used items away. Many organizations also offer convenient pickup services, making it easy to make a positive impact on both the planet and your community.

2. Plant a Tree
Planting a tree is a simple but powerful way to give back to the planet. It helps clean the air, provides homes for wildlife, and makes outdoor spaces more beautiful.

3. Choose Eco-Friendly Fabrics
The clothes we wear make a difference! Here at The Decided Collection, we use Modal, a fabric made from responsibly sourced beechwood trees—a renewable resource that requires significantly less water to grow than cotton. Modal fabric is also biodegradable, meaning it naturally breaks down without polluting the environment. Plus, some modal production processes use a closed-loop system, reducing waste and making it an even more sustainable choice.

4. Go on a Nature Walk & Pick Up Litter
Head outside, get some fresh air, and pick up any trash you see along the way. A little effort makes a big difference in keeping your neighborhood clean and green.

5. Start a Simple Recycling Habit
Recycling can be easy—just start with one thing! Sort bottles and cans, try a compost bin, or upcycle an old T-shirt into something new.

6. Swap Screen Time for Green Time
Take a break from the screens and do something outdoors—read a book outside, draw, spend some time with friends, ride your bike, literally anything to enjoy the outdoor weather. Less energy use, more fun outside!

Little actions add up, and when you choose brands like The Decided Collection, you're making an even bigger impact. How will you and your tween celebrate Earth Day this year? Do you have other fun ideas? Leave us a comment!
